NEWS & VIEWS 6-11-09
Fuerstman Leads
Top; Gordon "B"; Balogh "C"; Frazier Lower Section of Skyland III
Charlotte, NC 6-10-09: A
slightly weaker turnout of 10
of the friendliest chess players in the Charlotte area gathered at this
mental jousting arena more commonly known as
the Skyland
Family Restaurant, in order to participate in Rd:3 of Skyland III. (CCC
members got very comfortable
sitting in the padded booths
and
full size tables and chairs while being catered to by a team of
friendly waitresses. Most enjoyed a generously
portioned delicious home
style meal for a ridiculously
low price ($5.95!),
drank fresh hot coffee and other beverages, analyzed on our demo board
and occasionally monitored the giant flat screen TV with the sound
turned down;
open 24 hours!!) Pictured below are CCC members Rev. Erman Bradley and George Bernard. In the Top Section, the
CCC's #3 player, the pride of
Mint Hill, NM Leland
"Ennui" Fuerstman (2023) was
unable to recover from 8 hours of Real Estate refreshment courses and
faultered against Slobodan
"the Mad Serb" Sinanovic
(1793) (See
Game 0802) but still leads with 2-1. In the "B" Section, Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1679) dispatched of Winfred
"Guns" Gatlin (1472) to lead with 1.5-1.5. In
the "C" Section, Josh "GTO" Balogh (1514) outlasted Michael "Xan" Alexander (1451) to lead with 2.5-.5. In
the Lower Section, "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1319) defeated Joe
Shirlen (1067) to lead with 2-1. In
order to observe all results see "Current

- The
facility was great and everybody was happy! We hope that more players
will
join us next Wednesday to
dine, socialize and play chess!) - Long live
