us, stops us, shifts us ahead, and soon picks us up

Exactly what does breed insanity is reason. Poets do not go
mad; but chess-players do".

how strong he is, must inevitably be affected." Spinoza |

Hales' Request to See Books
Denied?!
Asheboro, NC
7-9-09: The CCC has
learned that approximately one month ago, Asheboro Chess Promoter William T. Hales properly
submitted to NCCA President Victor Beaman, by certified mail, an
official request to observe the books, checkbooks and other records of
the NCCA but was promptly forbidden to do so by NCCA Legal Advisor
Attorney Wilder Wadford? (In my
opinion, every member of the NCCA, an official non-profit organization,
should have the right to observe the books upon demand, regardless of
his reason. LF)

NEWS & VIEWS 7-16-09
Fuerstman
Leads Top; Gordon "B"; Balogh "C", 5 Lower Section of Skyland IV
Charlotte, NC 7-15-09:
Another light turnout of 10
of
the most friendly mental jousters in the Queen City journied to this
grand ballroom more
commonly known as
the Skyland
Family Restaurant, in order to participate in Rd:3
of Skyland IV. (CCC
members got very comfortable
sitting in the padded booths
and
full size tables and chairs while being catered to by a team of
friendly waitresses. Most enjoyed a generously
portioned delicious home
style meal for a ridiculously
low price ($5.95!),
drank fresh hot coffee and other beverages, analyzed on our demo board
and occasionally
monitored the giant flat screen TV with the sound
turned down;
open 24 hours!!) In the Top Section,
the CCC's #3 player, the pride of Mint
Hill, NM Leland "Ennui"
Fuerstman (2005) met with stiff resistance against superhero Daryl "Flash" Gordon
(1687) (See
Game 0807) but emerged victorious to led with 2.5-.5.
Meanwhile, Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1840) was unceremoniously upset
by upstart Josh "GTO" Balogh (1638) (See Game 0808)
who now leads the "C" Section
with 3-0.
In addition, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1544) outplayed "Smokin"
Corey Frazier (1280). In the Lower
Section, Joe Shirlen (1050) defeated Rev.
Erman Bradley (Unr). (Pictured here playing
Bradley is George Bernard). In
order to observe all results see "Current
Crosstable" - The
facility was great and everybody was happy! We hope that more players
will
join us next Wednesday to
dine, socialize and play chess!) - Everyone is
welcome... Long live
the CCC! -
