Flash - Flash - Flash - Flash Beaman Resigns
Charlotte, NC 9-29-09,
3:00pm: Now that there has been
an official statement published on their website that Victor Beaman has resigned as
President of the NCCA, (you saw it first
on the CCC website!) hopefully the organization will move
forward with positive changes. But, until a thorough, much overdue
audit is made of the NCCA's records and checkbooks, I am afraid that
many inherent problems will continue to persist. Regardless of my
current status with the NCCA, I am a past President who cares very much
about the future of chess in North Carolina. Currently, there seems to
be more of an emphasis on scholastic chess; and the competition is
fierce! There are new organizations cropping up all of the time,
including one currently being advertised and covertly promoted called
"Chess Adventures" which is actually owned by NCCA President Gary
Newsom!? ("Illegally
elected" NCCA Vice-President of Scholastics Jessica Martin appears
to spend most of her efforts on promoting "her" Scholastic
Organization called "9 Queens") What puzzles me is why it is
necessary to charge an entry fee of $25 to very young scholastic
players who can only win a $5 plastic trophy?! Seems like a fair EF for
kids should be between $5-10. Mr. Newsom was one of the Directors of
that tournament.
Furthermore, contrary to what Mr. Newsom has recently discussed
publicly at his chess club and privately in a phone conversation to
wit: "McCartney has asked Fuerstman 'numerous times' to remove his
recent message?!" --- The fact is that Patrick McCartney has never asked me to remove Message #390 from the CCC Message Board. Again,
I have become the object of "dirty tricks" which are designed to make
me out to be the bad guy. Anyone within earshot of that conversation
might form an opinion about me based on a statement which is absolutely
not true.At best, that could be described
as particularly bad manners...
Look, the NCCA is still in chaos. Beaman's resignation is a good start,
but nothing has changed yet including their continued policy of
ignoring every important question which I have raised concerning the
North Carolina Championship and other topics.By the way, Patrick, if you had
tied for 1st Place in the NC Class and paid for "2" nights of lodging, gas
and food, you would have "lost"
between $50-100? The organizer, American
Chess Promotions pocketed almost $4,000!?? And remember, the
NCCA sanctioned it.
Ps.
And just to prove that I am capable of saying something positive about
someone, I want to congratulate Asheboro Promoter/Director Tom "Terrific" Hales for
promoting his 50th
tournament on October
3. In the face of much political adversity, in a small town, Tom
has built a very successful organization and provided a great service
to all North Carolina players. I strongly recommend participating this
weekend in Asheboro!
You just might see me there. LF

coldly and objectively, than 008 can replace you..." M
