continuously updated, we will report a
weekly synopsis of the previous meeting
to include current standings, annotated
games, Sinanovic's Puzzle and other
interesting anecdotes for your reading,
viewing, and listening pleasure. We

Chess Club is open to players
of every race, color, creed, national origin,
age, gender, religion, political affiliation
or galaxy! Regardless of skill level or
experience, each member is treated equally

| The Charlotte Chess Club,
an Independent Affiliate of the USCF meets each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm (or as early as 5:30 for some!) at the  Skyland Family Restaurant, 4544 South Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28209 (Just past Woodlawn Rd towards town on L) Primarily an "adult" club, the CCC conducts a perpetual 5 round tournament with one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:45pm sharp! The time control is G90 - Entry fee is $4. ($6 for non-members) In 4 Sections: Top, "B", "C", Lower. (Current Crosstable) All sections win Free Entry into next event. (Winners must have 4 points with no byes). The Annual club membership fee is $25. Current members receive $5 discount. (Note: Non-members who pay a $25 EF to participate in CCC Saturday events receive $5 credit toward membership for each event entered!) The venue is "open 24 hours" and guarantees a private area with plenty of tables, good lighting, "Wi-Fi," great food, TV with the sound turned off, close parking, friendly management and our own personal waitress, Cindy! (The Management requests that you purchase your meal at Skyland) Join us to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated games. If you are not playing in the tournament, your first visit is FREE! Non-members, who have visited more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $2. The CCC occasionally sponsors a bi-monthly 3 rd. Swiss and other special tournaments. For schedule see "Upcoming Events" In order to compete in "Tournament Competition" and join the CCC or USCF simply show up at the site! Note: Non-members will be pre-empted by Members who arrive before 7:45pm! |
| Explanation
of "Weekly Tournament Competition" The CCC conducts a perpetual 5 round tournament with one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:45 pm. sharp! The time control is G90 - All players who compete in tournament competition are required to be members of the United States Chess Federation. Regardless of which round(s) one chooses to enter, a player only gets credit for the game(s) he actually plays. There is no penalty for not showing up; it is simply counted as an unplayed game. - If you're running late, call me at 704-965-8931 and I'll pair you! Skyland stays open 24 hours! |

Chess Tweet!! Instead of apologizing for his negligence, the "dictator" posted a "List of Past Presidents" of the NCCA on their Forum? Considering the idea that he may not be aware of www.charlottechess.com where my name is repeatedly posted, someone needs to tell him that the USCF provides a database which actually spells all names properly! The list should read Victor Beaman (not Victor Beamon) and NM Neal Harris (not Neal Harris) and NM Leland Fuerstman (not Leeland Fuerstman?) In order to avoid embarrassment, why doesn't he allow one of his literate officers to edit his work before he publishes misspelled names with no titles?? |

News & Views 9-26-13Fuerstman Leads Top; 5 "B"; Frazier "C"; Trela Lower Section of Skyland 48 * Pealer is NC's Newest Master!! Charlotte, NC 9-25-13: A strong turnout of 27 of the most farctated masticators in the city converged upon this 5 star restaruant more commonly knows as the Skyland Family Restaurant in order to participate in Rd:2 of Skyland 48. (CCC members got very comfortable sitting in full size tables and chairs while being catered to by our own personal waitress, Cindy. Most enjoyed a generously portioned home style meal for a ridiculously low price ($6.95!) drank hot coffee and other beverages, analyzed on our demo board and monitored the giant flat screen TV with the sound turned off; Skyland stays open 24 hours!) In the Top Section, the  Pride
of Mint Hill, ex-member of the NCCA
Hall of Fame, NM Leland
"Ennui" Fuerstman (2011) assumed a giant
opening advantage from a hybrid Sicilian
versus superhero Daryl "Flash" Gordon,
who ditched a peace on move 21 but won
it back in the end (See
Game 1223) to Draw
allowing the "former player" to lead with 1.5-.5.  Meanwhile, newly
crowned NM Shawn "P
Diddy" Pealer (2200) bounced back with a
nice win over Expert Patrick "Flanker"
McCartney (2116) while new CCC member Expert
Matthew Wofford (2079) didn't exactly  clobber, but ended up
defeating Michael "Bolton" Kliber (2017). In the
"B" Section, Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton
(1661) beat down Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1616)
while Marat "Tavarish" Kocharyan
(1608) took out Marnzell "Pat" Hand (1603). In
the "C" Section, "Smokin" Corey
Frazier (1409) got involved in a lengthy
encounter but ultimately defeated newcomer Vaed
Khurjekar (1449) to lead with 2-0. In the Lower
Section, Rich "Alert" Trela
(1141) dispatched of Rajesh Ganatra (920) to
lead with 1.5-.5.
In addition, Mike  "Fox" Trott (1285)
finally slowed down the runaway freight train
that is Eric "Truth" Hartung
(1354), Sam Kumar (1251) got by Debs
Pedigo (1103) and Zach Amigo (812)
defeated Ben Tarkenton (378). We welcomed 3 new
members tonight: Expert Matthew Wofford, Clarence Walton
and George Cobb.
In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable."
The facility was
great and everybody was happy!
We hope more players will join us next
Wednesday to dine, socialize and play
one rated game of chess at 7:45pm sharp!
