Fuerstman Leads Top; Sinanovic "B"; Obey "C"; Frazier Lower Section of Seafarer V
Charlotte, NC 12-10-08:  A slightly stronger turnout of 11 of the most amiable competitors in the Metrolina area converged upon this mental jousting arena more commonly known as the Seafarer (Just look for the 3-D Whale) in order to participate in Rd:2 of Seafarer V. In the Top Section, the CCC's #4 player, the pride of Mint Hill, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2011) successfully deployed his "anti-Smith -Morra Gambit" system versus the czar of the Asheboro chess community, William "Tom" Hales (1775) (See Game 0773) and now leads with 2-0. In the "B" Section, Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1774) outplayed Vadims "the Mad Latvian" Mudrovs (1359) to lead with 1-1. In the Lower Section, "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1213) upset Michael "Xan" Alexander (1504) to lead with 2-0. In addition, Lee "Roger" Moore (1213) upset Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1231). In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable"(The facility was great! Everybody was happy! We hope that more players will join us next week to dine, socialize and play chess!) -  Long live the CCC! -  Quark IX - Dec 27!
Fuerstman, Xin Coast Home in Quark 8
Charlotte, NC 11-29-08:  A grand total of 8 of the most amicable chess players in the Metrolina area converged upon the Mint Hill Public Library in order to participate in Quark 8. In the Top Section, the pride of Mint Hill, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2011) almost eclipsed the CCC "fastest game" record after he snagged a piece against Michael Alexander (1457) in 3 moves! (1 d4 Nf6 2 Bg5 c6!? 3 e3?? Qa5!-+) in Rd:1, barely fended off the advances of an aggressive Navaneet Galagali (1051) in Rd:2 (See Game 0771) and agreed to a Grandmaster Draw in the final round versus Samuel "Xman" Xin (1969) who dispatched of Charlie "Tenor" Cararros (1437) in Rd:1 and Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1774) in Rd:2. Each finished =1st-2nd Place with 2.5-.5 and took home $60. To observe all results see "Crosstable." Fuerstman Directed, Wheeless assisted. Our final event of the year will be Quark 9 - Dec 27! E-mail lelandfue@yahoo. com to have your name placed on the list of players who "Intend to particpate."
