The CCC
Supreme Committee has mandated that effective immediately, the
round for the Charlotte
Chess Club Wednesday evening game will now begin at
7:20pm and the
new time control
is now G75 (with no "time delay")
or G60 if both players agree. {"Time delay" can significantly
increase
the realtime length of a game}. We must acknowledge the fact
that the Seafarer closes at 10 pm.
The CCC will meet on the next 2 Wednesday evenings but not meet on December 24 or December 31. Our final club event of the
year will
be Quark 9 on December 27 at the Mint Hill Public Library. I hope
you will join us then. LF

NEWS & VIEWS 12-4-08
Seafarer V
Begins
Charlotte, NC 12-3-08: A record low turnout of
7 members of
the CCC elite royal guard defied the boycott and assembled at this
grand ballroom more commonly known as the Seafarer (Just
look for the 3-D Whale) in
order to participate in Rd:1 of Seafarer V. In the Top Section,
the CCC's #4 player, the pride of Mint Hill, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2011) played crazy
against Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1774) but somehow prevailed in the end (See Game 0772) to lead with 1-0. In the "C" Section, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1231) upset Michael "Xan"
Alexander (1504) to lead the Lower
Section with 1-0. In
order to observe all results see "Current
Crosstable". (The
facility was great! Everybody was happy! We hope that more players will
join us
next week to dine, socialize and play chess!)

8
Charlotte, NC
11-29-08: A grand total of 8 of the most amicable
chess players in the Metrolina area converged upon the Mint Hill Public Library in order to participate in Quark 8. In the Top Section, the pride of Mint Hill, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2011) almost eclipsed the
CCC "fastest game"
record after he snagged a piece against Michael Alexander (1457) in 3
moves! (1 d4
Nf6 2 Bg5 c6!? 3 e3?? Qa5!-+) in Rd:1, barely fended off the advances
of an aggressive Navaneet Galagali (1051) in Rd:2 (See Game 0771) and agreed to a
Grandmaster Draw in the final round versus Samuel "Xman" Xin (1969) who dispatched of
Charlie "Tenor" Cararros (1437) in Rd:1
and Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1774) in Rd:2. Each finished =1st-2nd Place with 2.5-.5 and
took home $60.
To observe all results see "Crosstable." Fuerstman
Directed, Wheeless assisted. Quark 9 - Dec 27!
