The
Charlotte
Chess Club,
an Affiliate of the USCF
meets each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm
(or as early as 5:30 for some!)
at The Seafarer, 9306 Albemarle Rd.
(Just past Wal-mart
at Harrisburg Rd. on right)
Charlotte, N.C. The club conducts a
perpetual
5 round tournament
with
one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:20pm.
The time control is G75

Entry fee is $4.
($6 for non-members) In 4 Sections: Top $50. "B", "C", Lower Free Entry
next event.
The Annual club
membership
fee is $25. (Current members receive $5 discount) NCCA ($5) membership is required. The venue guarantees
a private room with plenty of
tables, good lighting, great food, close
parking, limited smoking in the "bar" and friendly management?! Join us
to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated
games. Your first
visit is FREE!
Non-members, who have visited
more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $2.
The CCC occasionally sponsors a bi-monthly 3 rd. Swiss
and other special
tournaments. For schedule see "Upcoming
Events" In order to compete in "Tournament Competition" and
join
the CCC, NCCA or USCF simply
show up at the site. |

and welcome to the Charlotte Chess Club website. On this page, which is
continuously updated, we will report a weekly synopsis of the previous
meeting to include current standings, annotated games, and other
interesting anecdotes for your reading, viewing, and listening

Fuerstman Leads
Top; Frazier Lower Section of Seafarer VII
Charlotte, NC 2-25-09:
A slightly lighter turnout of 10
of
the most celebrated strike breakers in the Queen City gathered at this
union hall more
commonly known as the Seafarer
(Just
look for the 3-D Whale) in order to participate in Rd:3
of Seafarer VII. In the Top Section,
the CCC's #3 player, the pride of
Mint Hill, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2011) survived a lively
skirmish versus Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1807) who had
actually won their last two encounters (See Game 0782), to lead with 2.5-.5. In
the "B" Section, Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1619) successfully returned
to CCC competition with a nice win over Michael "Xan" Alexander (1438)
to share the lead with Tom "Terrific" Hales each with 1-0. In the "C" Section, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1451) bested "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1312) to share the lead with Alexander each with 1 point. In
the Lower Section, Jody "T" Rex (Unr) won his very first
tournament game against Lee "Roger" Moore (1224) but
trails Frazier who has 2-1. In

facility was great! Everybody was happy! We hope that more players will
join us next Wednesday to

Mabe Perfect in Quark X
Charlotte, NC
2-14-09: A grand total of 7 of the most amiable
chessplayers in the Metrolina area converged upon the Mint Hill Public Library in order to participate in Quark X. In the Top Section,
the CCC's #1 player, NM Chris
"the Babe" Mabe (2281)
defeated David Stamper (1850) in Rd:1,
Lucas Hausrath (1237) in Rd:2 and NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2011) in
the final round (See Game 0780) to score a
perfect 3-0
and pocket $70.
Equal 2nd-4th were Fuerstman, Stamper and Joshua Turner each with 2-1 winning $12. To
