Charlotte
Chess Club,
an Affiliate of the USCF
meets each Wednesday evening at 7:00pm (or as early as 5:30 for some!)
at Quaker Steak & Lube
Restaurant, 1601 E.
Woodlawn Rd. (in the Park Road Shopping Center)
Charlotte, N.C. The club conducts a
perpetual 5 round tournament with one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. The time control is 30/1, G30 - Top Section G90. Entry fee is $4. ($6 for non-members) The Annual club membership fee is $25. (Current members receive $5 discount) NCCA ($5) membership is required. The venue guarantees a private room with plenty of tables, good lighting, great food, close parking, limited smoking and friendly management?! Join us to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated games. Your first visit is FREE! Non-members, who have visited more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $2. The CCC sponsors a bi-monthly 3 rd. Swiss at Quaker Steak & Lube and other occasional tournaments. For schedule see "Upcoming Events" In order to compete in "Tournament Competition" and join the CCC, NCCA or USCF simply show up at the site. "YOU COULD HEAR A
PIN DROP!!!" Charlotte, NC 1-16-08: A light turnout of 14 of our most talented  competitors defied the Farmer's Almanac and
trekked to this mental jousting arena more commonly known as Quaker
Steak & Lube in order to participate in Rd:3 of Quaker Steak Club 1. In the Top Section,
the CCC's #3 player, the pride of South Charlotte, Expert Shawn "Arlo" Pealer (2084) arrived at a 3 pawns
vs N ending against 2007 CCC Expert
of the Year NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2000) but unfortunately
fell asleep and split the point to lead with 2.5-.5. In
addition, Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (2009) clobbered Michael
"Bolton" Kliber (1984) (See Game 0724). In the "B" Section,
evidently Dr. Gil "Sherlock" Holmes (1765) got on the wrong bus as Derek "Cats" Smith (1736) now leads with 2.5-.5. In
addition, Ankit "Butch" Jivan (1597) made peace
with Andras "the Mad
Hungarian" Bader (1735). I n the Lower
Section, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1225) beat down Copeland
"Copie" Blackwell (973) to lead with 3-0. Other Lower Section winners were: Dave "Salt" Peter and "Smokin" Corey Frazier. All
results may be observed on the current "Crosstable." Note:

McCartney Wins Quaker
Steak VCharlotte NC 12-15-07: A grand total of 8 of the most competent
competitors in the Carolina's travelled to the Queen City in
order to participate in Quaker Steak V. In the Top Section,
 the CCC's #10 player, the pride of
Stallings, NC, Patrick "Fabio"
McCartney (2014)
dispatched of Ken "the Great" Ivens (1736) in Rd:1, split the point with Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1795) in Rd:2 and used just enough kryptonite
in Rd:3 to defeat mild
mannered reporter Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1764) to finish clear 1st Place with 2.5-.5 and
take home $80.
Clear 2nd Place was Sinanovic with 2-1 winning $40. In
