Charlotte
Chess Club,
an Affiliate of the USCF
meets each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm
(or as early as 5:30 for some!)
at The Seafarer, 9306 Albemarle Rd.
(Just past Wal-mart
at Harrisburg Rd. on right)
Charlotte, N.C. The club conducts a
perpetual
5 round tournament
with
one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:30pm.
The time control is G60
-
Entry fee is $4.
($6 for non-members) In 4 Sections: Top $50. "B", "C", Lower Free Entry
next event.
The Annual club
membership
fee is $25. (Current members receive $5 discount) NCCA ($5) membership is required. The venue guarantees
a private room with plenty of
tables, good lighting, great food, close
parking, limited smoking in the "bar" and friendly management?! Join us
to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated
games. Your first
visit is FREE!
Non-members, who have visited
more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $2.
The CCC occasionally sponsors a bi-monthly 3 rd. Swiss
and other special
tournaments. For schedule see "Upcoming
Events" In order to compete in "Tournament Competition" and
join
the CCC, NCCA or USCF simply

Tkatchouk Leads
Top; Morais "B"; Alexander "C"; Carerros Lower Section of
Seafarer III - Just Look for the 3-D Whale!!
Charlotte, NC 10-1-08: A slightly stronger
turnout of 12
of the most contented chess
players in the Metrolina area trekked to this 5 star restaurant more commonly known as
the Seafarer
in order to participate in Rd:2 of
Seafarer III. In the Top Section,
the CCC's #3 player, the pride of
Moskow, Russia via Mexico! Expert Dr. Vladimir
Vladimirovich Tkatchouk (2084)
demonstrated precise endgame technique versus NM Leland "Ennui"
Fuerstman (2000) to lead with 2-0 (See Game 0761). "No excuses,"
said Fuerstman, "the friendly physicist simply outplayed me." In
the "B" Section, two
new CCC members! squared off with Alain Morais (1738) on the right,
outplaying Nick Matelli (1614) to lead with
1-0.
In the "C" Section, Vadims
Mudrovs (1434) was upset by "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1096). In the Lower Section, Charlie "Tenor" Carerros (1350) riddled Winfred
"Guns" Gatlin (1329) to lead with 2-0. In
order to observe all results see "Current
Crosstable" (The
facility was great! Everybody was happy! We hope that more players will
join us
next week for G60!) -
