Charlotte
Chess Club,
an Affiliate of the USCF
meets each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm
(or as early as 5:30 for some!)
at The Seafarer, 9306 Albemarle Rd. (Just past Wal-mart at Harrisburg Rd. on right) Charlotte, N.C. The club conducts a perpetual 5 round tournament with one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. The time control is G60 - Entry fee is $4. ($6 for non-members) In 4 Sections: Top $50. "B", "C", Lower Free Entry next event. The Annual club membership fee is $25. (Current members receive $5 discount) NCCA ($5) membership is required. The venue guarantees a private room with plenty of tables, good lighting, great food, close parking, limited smoking in the "bar" and friendly management?! Join us to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated games. Your first visit is FREE! Non-members, who have visited more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $2. The CCC occasionally sponsors a bi-monthly 3 rd. Swiss and other special tournaments. NEWS & VIEWS 10-9-08Tkatchouk Leads Top; Morais "B"; Alexander "C"; Carerros Lower Section of Seafarer III - Just Look for the 3-D Whale!! Charlotte, NC 10-8-08: A stronger turnout of 15 of the most well fed chess players in the Charlotte area gathered at this "town hall" more  commonly
known as
the Seafarer
in order to enjoy an excellent meal, socialize and participate in Rd:3 of Seafarer III. In the Top Section,
the CCC's #3 player, the pride of
Moskow, Russia via Mexico! Expert Dr. Vladimir
Vladimirovich Tkatchouk (2084)
went to the wire but ultimately prevailed over NCCA
President
Randy "Wheels" Wheeless (1667) to lead with 3-0. In
addition, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2000) successfully
employed the Black side of the Budapest Defense versus
Nick "Check" Matelli (1614) (See Game 0763). In the "B" Section, Alain "Rastamon" Morais (1738) beat down Michael
Alexander (1457) to lead with 2-0. In the Lower Section, Charlie "Tenor" Carerros  (1350)
K.O.ed "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1096) to lead with 3-0. Other Lower
Section winners were: Joe
Shirlen and Dave Peter! In
order to observe all results see "Current
Crosstable". (The
facility was great! Everybody was happy! We hope that more players will
join us
