is doing what is impossible

"The older I grow, the more I value my pawns."  Keres
"Morphy was probably the greatest genius of them all."  Fischer

Fuerstman Takes Top; Gordon "B"; Balogh "C"; Frazier Lower Section of Skyland I
Charlotte, NC 4-15-09: A grand total of 26 patriotic tax paying wood pushers stopped by the mailbox just before arriving at this grand ballroom more commonly known as the Skyland Family Restaurant, in order to participate in Skyland I. (CCC members got very comfortable sitting in the padded booths and full size tables and chairs while being catered to by a team of friendly waitresses. Most enjoyed a generously portioned delicious home style meal for a ridiculously low price ($5.95!), drank fresh hot coffee and other beverages, analyzed on our demo board and occasionally monitored the giant flat screen TV with the sound turned down. Not to cast any aspersion on our previous facility, but the food is excellent and much cheaper at Skyland, the location is far better and the place stays open 24 hours!!) In the Top Section, the CCC's #4 player, the pride of Mint Hill, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2013) successfully waded through the complications of a wild Pirc Robatch Defense against scholastic superstar Samuel "Xman" Xin (1975) (See Game 0789) to take clear 1st Place with 4-1 and pocket $100. In the "B" Section, Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1619) dispatched of Michael "Xan" Alexander (1458) (See Game 0790) to take clear 1st Place with 3.5-1.5. In the "C" Section, newcomer Josh "Bluffer" Balogh (Unr) beat down Hassan "HH" Hashemloo (1314) (See Game 0791) to finish clear 1st Place with 3-2. In addition, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1451) stopped "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1315). In the Lower Section, in spite of the fact that he lost his last 2 rounds, Frazier finished clear 1st Place with 3-2. In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable"  - The facility was great and everybody was happy! We hope that more players will join us next Wednesday to dine, socialize and play chess!) -  Long live the CCC! -  Quark XI - Apr 25!
