Here is the only truth: "We are the

us, stops us, shifts us ahead, and soon picks us up

CCC
NEWS & VIEWS 7-31-08
Fuerstman,
Mabe, Eubanks
Lead Top; Wood, Wheeless "B"; Hales "C"; Gatlin Lower Section of
Seafarer I
Charlotte, NC 7-30-08: A slightly lighter
turnout of only 14 of our
most loyal members of the CCC royal guard defied the boycott and
reported to this very comfortable sanctuary more commonly known as the Seafarer in
order to enjoy a delicious meal just prior to and during their
participation in Rd:3 of Seafarer I. In the Top Section,
member of the NCCA Hall of Fame NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2000) yielded a 23 move
pawn down Draw to 2008 LPO U2000 Champion
Ex-Expert Gary "Sandbagger" Branton (1950) (See Game 0745)
to share the lead with NM Chris
"the Babe" Mabe (2250) and
Expert Keith "Chuckie" Eubanks (2075) each with 1.5. In
addition, Team Asheboro's 2008 N.C. Scholastic Champion and 2008 U2000 Champion Jonathon McNeill (1913) administered just the right amount of kryptonite in
order to fend off mild mannered reporter for the Daily Planet Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1756) (See Game 0746). (BTW,
there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that McNeill is actually an
alien from
the planet Zeta Riticuli
who possesses super hypnotic powers!!?) In the "B" Section, though he has only
played one round and requested no Byes, Team Asheboro's Jordan "Tiger" Wood (1773) shares the lead with Randy "Wheels" Wheeless (1667) with 1-0! In the "C" Section, Team Asheboro's Tom "Terrific" Hales (1580) outplayed Spencer
"Jazzman" Singleton (1588) to lead with 2.5-.5. In
addition, Andrew "Lefty" Turner (1467) holed out on Charlie "Tenor" Carerros (1168). In the Lower Section, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1284) KO'ed "Smokin' Corey
Frazier (1093) to lead with 3-0. Other Lower Section winners were: Lee "Roger" Moore and Vadims Mudrovs. See "Current
Crosstable" for complete results. (The
facility was great! Everybody was happy! We hope more players join in
the fun next week! - LF)
