The
Charlotte
Chess Club,
an Affiliate of the USCF
meets each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm
(or as early as 5:30 for some!)
at The Seafarer, 9306 Albemarle Rd.
(Just past Wal-mart
at Harrisburg Rd. on right)
Charlotte, N.C. The club conducts a
perpetual
5 round tournament
with
one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:20pm.
The time control is G75
-
Entry fee is $4.
($6 for non-members) In 4 Sections: Top $50. "B", "C", Lower Free Entry
next event.
The Annual club
membership
fee is $25. (Current members receive $5 discount) NCCA ($5) membership is required. The venue guarantees
a private room with plenty of
tables, good lighting, great food, close
parking, limited smoking in the "bar" and friendly management?! Join us
to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated
games. Your first
visit is FREE!
Non-members, who have visited
more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $2.
The CCC occasionally sponsors a bi-monthly 3 rd. Swiss
and other special
tournaments. For schedule see "Upcoming
Events" In order to compete in "Tournament Competition" and
join
the CCC, NCCA or USCF simply
show up at the site. |

and welcome to the Charlotte Chess Club website. On this page, which is
continuously updated, we will report a weekly synopsis of the previous
meeting to include current standings, annotated games, and other
interesting anecdotes for your reading, viewing, and listening

Fuerstman Takes
Top; Sinanovic "B"; Obey "C"; Frazier Lower Section of Seafarer V - Happy Holidays to
All!!
Charlotte, NC 12-17-08: A grand total of 10 of the most loyal
members of the CCC royal guard enjoyed a wonderful meal at this five
star restaurant more commonly known as the Seafarer and
then participated in Seafarer V. In the Top Section,
the CCC's # 4 player, the pride of Mint Hill, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2011) promptly dispatched
of new CCC member Matthew Harlow (Unr) to take clear 1st Place with 3-0 and
pocket $50.
In the "B" Section, Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1774) finished clear 1st Place
with 1-1.
In the "C" Section, Octavius "0-0" Obey (1560) finished clear 1st Place
with .5-.5
(the
first time a player has ever won a section with a half point Bye!? LOL)
and in the Lower Section, "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1213) split the point
with Lee "Roger" Moore (1231) to take clear 1st Place with 2.5-.5. In
order to observe all results see "Current
Crosstable". (The
facility was great! Everybody was happy! We hope that more players will
join us on January 7, 2009 to
dine, socialize and play chess!) - Long live

Chumachenko Takes Top; Gatlin
Lower Section of Quark IX
Charlotte, NC
12-27-08: A grand total of 15 of the most amicable
chess players from three states converged upon the Mint Hill Public Library in order to participate in Quark 9. In the Top Section, clear 1st Place went to 2008 NCCA Invitational Champion FM Andrey Chumachenko (2428) who dispatched of
Charlie Yu (1715) in Rd:1,
Matthew Green (1891) in Rd:2
and NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2001) (See Fuerstman-McNeill) in the final round
to register a
perfect 3-0
and take home $100.
Clear 2nd Place was Expert Keith "Chuckie" Eubanks (2060) of Columbia, SC
who scored 2.5-.5
and pocketed $50.
In the Lower Section, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1231) reeled off consecutive wins against Matthew Harlow (Unr), Ethan
Hollandsworth (1088) and Charlie Carerros (1437) to finish in clear 1st Place with 3-0 and
collect $50.
Clear 2nd Place was 9 year old
Chad
Moody (1165) from Hendersonville with 2.5-.5 who
won $25.
