The Charlotte Chess Club, an Affiliate of the USCF meets each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm (or as early as 5:30 for some!) at The Seafarer, 9306 Albemarle Rd.
(Just past Wal-mart at Harrisburg Rd. on right)

The club conducts a perpetual

round tournament with one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:20pm. The time control is G75 -  Entry fee is $4. ($6 for non-members) In 4 Sections: Top $50. "B", "C", Lower Free Entry next event. The Annual club membership fee is $25. (Current members receive $5 discount) NCCA ($5) membership is required.
The venue guarantees a private room with plenty of tables, good lighting, great food, close parking, limited smoking in the "bar" and friendly management?! Join us to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated games. Your first visit is FREE! Non-members, who have visited more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $2. The CCC occasionally sponsors a bi-monthly 3 rd. Swiss and other special tournaments. For schedule see "Upcoming Events"  In order to compete in "Tournament Competition" and join the CCC, NCCA or USCF simply show up at the site.

Fuerstman Leads Top; Alexander "C"; Frazier, Moore Lower Section of Seafarer VII
Charlotte, NC 3-4-09:  A slightly stronger turnout of 15 of the most talented calculators in the Carolinas converged upon this think tank more commonly known as the Seafarer Restaurant  (Just look for the 3-D Whale) in order to participate in Rd:4 of Seafarer VII. In the Top Section, the CCC's #3 player, the pride of Mint Hill, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2011) properly maneuvered the Dragon Bishop and successfully launched a Queens side attack versus Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1619) (See Game 0783) to lead with 3.5-.5. In the "B" Section, Derek "Cats" Smith (1749) defended to the hilt against Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1807) to share the lead with 1 point. In the "C" Section, Michael "Xan" Alexander (1438) beat down Vadims "the Mad Latvian" Mudrovs (1314) to lead with 2-2. In addition, returnee to CCC competition David Collins (1234) upset Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1400). In the Lower Section, Lee "Roger" Moore (1224) welcomed Wesley Holmes to CCC tournament competition to share the lead with Corey Frazier (1315) who lost on time to Matthew "Hurricane" Harlow (912) each with 2-2. Mabe Perfect in Quark X
Charlotte, NC 2-14-09:  A grand total of 7 of the most amiable chessplayers in the Metrolina area converged upon the Mint Hill Public Library in order to participate in Quark X. In the Top Section, the CCC's #1 player, NM Chris "the Babe" Mabe (2281) defeated David Stamper (1850) in Rd:1, Lucas Hausrath (1237) in Rd:2 and NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2011) in the final round (See Game 0780) to score a perfect 3-0 and pocket $70. Equal 2nd-4th were Fuerstman, Stamper and Joshua Turner each with 2-1 winning $12. To observe all results see complete "Crosstable."
